Please tell us about the functional properties of Motiontite.
A Motiontite meets the standards for mechanical properties set out by JIS for hardness, tensile strength and rated load stress. The Motiontite also has the added value of an anti-loosening function, making it a high-performance bolt.
Please explain possible production range and usage notes of Motiontite.
Presently, screws (bolts) in the range from M2 (pitch 0.4) to M16 (pitch 2.0) can be produced. As for the head shape, various shapes are available. Since there are many types, we presently sell only hexagon socket head bolts (made of iron or stainless steel) from stock. Since we produce other types of screws by order, please ask us about production lot, price, etc. We can also undertake processing of screws, so please ask us about it, too.
Recommended tightening torque for Motiontite is equal to or slightly higher (i.e., about 1.0 to 1.2 times higher) than the tightening torque for standard screws. There is no problem in use of a plain washer. However, combination with a spring washer is not recommended. When a counterpart material to be tightened is soft, we can modify the thread shape of Motiontite, so please consult us.
What is the most important feature of Motiontite?
A That would be the fact that the loosening function is on the bolt side rather than the nut side. Until now, anti-loosening on the nut side has been standard, with slack prevention using prevailing torque type locking nuts or double nuts, but the Motiontite has the major feature of making anti-loosening possible even where nuts cannot be used, and making it possible to further manage torque. This makes it possible for all threaded parts to be subject to anti-loosening, allowing automobile and home appliance assembly lines to use them for stable torque management through tightening in the plant.
Please tell us about big differences between the Motiontite and the other products in the anti-loosening mechanisms.
Generally, tightened bolt and nut become easier to loosen as alternating shear stress on contact surfaces of an external screw and an internal screw increases. Therefore, conventionally, a method of suppressing the alternating shear stress by increasing frictional resistance has been employed generally. For instance, such method includes a method of applying a great axial force with a higher-strength bolt and a method of increasing the frictional resistance by adding prevailing torque from the nut side. The Motiontite has a function to cancel the alternating shear stress with a spring reaction force of a thread. Therefore, the Motiontite can reduce twisting of a bolt axis, which can cause the loosening, and can suppress the loosening. Rather than suppressing the loosening by increasing the frictional force as in the other products, the Motiontite suppresses the loosening by using the spring reaction force provided by elastic deformation of the thread and further using its property to absorb vibration and shock.
